“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Only that isn’t quite where we’re at right now.
It’s never been so easy to have your voice heard by thousands, even millions, of people. Social media allows us to connect and feel closer to more people than ever before. But at what cost?
We keep seeing the dark side of this relationship. The social media dogpiles. The witch hunts. The tragic consequences. And it’s not right. Real people often pay the price of having an audience who scrutinise their every move.
We can’t let these things keep happening.
At THRIVE, we’re not lawmakers. We’re not influencers. We simply believe that we all have a responsibility to commit to changing our behaviour to make the world a better place. And as learning providers who are all about changing behaviours, we’re doing what we can to start the conversation about being kinder online. And we’re asking you for your help to keep it going.
So, we’ve released a free resource to encourage people to stop and think about how they engage with content, and others, online. We hope you’ll help us by spreading the message and sharing this resource within your organisation to help make our online world a better place.
Because our words have power. And our actions have consequences.
Even by engaging with negative content, we amplify it. And it’s time we all took a bit more notice and responsibility for that.
